Glu Mobile Finalizes Acquisition of Diner Dash Creator, PlayFirst
Glu Mobile, recognized for developing and publishing free-to-play games for mobile devices, announced that they have finalized the acquisition of PlayFirst, makers of a number of DASH series including Diner Dash, Hotel Dash, Cooking Dash, and Wedding Dash.
Niccolo de Masi, CEO of Glu, said that the company is pleased to formally welcome PlayFirst to the Glu family and looks forward to bring new DASH titles to global gamers. Glu bought PlayFirst by offering the latter’s shareholders shares of the company’s common stock and by assuming $3.55 million in debt. Also, as part of the acquisition, Glu issued restricted stock units which cover a total of 218,000 shares to 29 new employees from PlayFirst.
Glu has made the following original titles consisting of Contract Killer, Deer Hunter, Eternity Warriors, Stardom, and Frontline Commando. These mobile games are available in a number of different platforms such as iOS, Android, Windows Phone, and MAC.
No announcement has been made if the DASH series would see a new title or if Glu will launch an all-new entry. All we know is that a free-to-play Diner Dash will be released in the 4th quarter of 2014.
Would Glu concentrate on porting the remaining DASH titles to mobile as freemium games? We’ll see for now.
